The game plays on a 5x5 grid using cluster pays, where matching symbols anywhere across the grid form a win. Cascading reels drop new symbols into cleared positions, and each unique position cleared fills the Transmutation Meter. As the meter fills, low-value symbols upgrade first to silver then to gold versions, and seals improve for use during the bonus round.
Alchemy Events trigger randomly during tumbles, upgrading symbols on the board, injecting seals into play or detonating sections of the grid. Landing exactly two scatters activates Second Distillation, dissolving the bottom row and dropping one additional tumble.
Landing three or more scatters triggers the Bonus Ladder, with four distinct tiers unlocked at three, four, five and six scatters respectively. Each successive tier extends the free spins round and improves its mechanics further, with later tiers featuring stronger symbol states and improved seal handling. During free spins, each scatter that lands awards up to 2 extra spins, with a maximum of 25 total spins achievable.
The Apothecary menu allows players to purchase direct access to Bonus Ladder tiers and to purchase specific starting states for their sessions.
